12 & Under State Championships The Victorian State Swimming Championships for 12 years and under took place at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre on Saturday and Sunday. Georgia Tsebelis had an outstanding meet winning the 12 Years Age group Champion after collecting a medal in each of the 8 individual and 2 relay event she swam. Georgia brought home Gold in the 200m IM (2:30.55), 4 Silver: 100m Backstroke (1:08.79); 200m Backstroke (2:30.94); 200m Freestyle (2:16.32); 100m freestyle (1:02.78), and 3 Bronze medals in 100m Breaststroke (1:22.24); 200m Breaststroke (2:57.81) and 100m Butterfly (1:08.65). Georgia broke 2 Victorian Country and 4 Gippsland Records.
Maggie O’Keefe won a bronze medal in the 12 years 100m freestyle event. Erin Roberts placed 6th in the 100m backstroke (11 years), 7th in the 100m freestyle and 10th in the 100m butterfly. In their first State Championships, Caiden Gill placed 6th in the 100m backstroke and Fabienne Schoutens placed 10th in the 200m Breaststroke. Thirteen of Traralgon’s junior swimmers took part in the state meet which included a three day team camp: Taylah DaRos, Jasmine Doultree, Jessica Norwood, Maggie O’Keefe, Gemma Radosavljevic, Erin Roberts, Fabienne Schoutens, Georgia Tsebelis, Caiden Gill, Jacob Lampitt, Sam May, Alex Tsebelis and Ashley Withell.
Traralgon’s senior swimmers are now looking forward to the Victorian State Age Championships which will begin on January 6. More stats: 17 finals – Georgia
