 Traralgon Swimming Club Presentation Night 2011

More than 200 members and families attended the annual Traralgon Swimming Club Presentation night held at the Premier Function Room in Traralgon recently. The night celebrated the end of the 2010/2011 swimming season and congratulated all swimmers on their achievements throughout the year. The presentation night began with a late afternoon junior awards session and continued throughout the evening with the senior awards.

A PowerPoint presentation was shown throughout the night of photos and video clips of the swimmers in action taken throughout the year. There were many laughs and much applause as swimmers and their families relived the year through photos and speeches. The highlight of the evening was the Victorian Country Championships DVD which was made by the coaches and swimmers showing not only the success of those championships but the fun times that was had around the pool throughout the weekend.

President Jane Mitchell, Senior Head coach Brian Ford, Head Coach Ben Geard, Senior coaches, Will Morrison, Michelle Ford, Matt Dinsmore, Sam Fenton and junior coaches, Charley Askew and Georgia Collings awarded 130 trophies for participation and achievement throughout the night and congratulated the swimmers for their dedication and commitment in making Traralgon Swimming Club the top Victorian Country club. The club’s achievements for the season including winning the Victorian Country Swimming Championships for the 11th time in 12 years, winning the Gippsland Swimming Championships for the 12th year, continuing to place in the top 10 at Victorian State Championships and medalling at the National Age Championships were recalled and celebrated along with individual and team achievements.

14 year old Georgia Tsebelis was awarded the Kathleen Froud Memorial Trophy as the Club Champion for the season. Georgia’s point score accumulated through outstanding swimming from local through to National level saw her take out the award for the second session in a row.

Erin Roberts, Trent Morrow, Alex Tsebelis, Bridget Cain, Riley Akers, Ashleigh Mihaly, Mikayla Underwood, Elayna Pistrin and Lincoln Ingravalle were awarded the Coach’s Awards for excellence in training.

Ten year old Georgia Moon was presented with the Loy Yang Power Encouragement Award and the First Year Swimmer with Potential went to ten year old Lauren Akers. Philip Blunt (15 years) was named Traralgon’s most successful swimmer in the local Gippsland fixture.  

LaTrobe Financial’s Most Improved Swimmer Awards went to Georgia Moon, Bridget Cain, Annabelle Reid, Samuel Reid, Chance Doultree and Alex Tsebelis (10 and under) and Chloe Trickett, Grace Biram, Ellie May, Finley Peddle, Jason Withell and Ashton Arthur (11 years and over). These awards are based on cumulative improvement to times over the season.

Traralgon’s Age Group Champions were named: (7 years and under) Jasmin Underwood and Benjamin Fleming (8 years) Chance Doultree and Elayna Pistrin (9 Years) Oscar Harry and Bridget Cain. (10 years) Alex Tsebelis and Georgia Moon  (11 years) Jasmine Doultree and Thomas Fleming (12 years) Erin Roberts and Caiden Gill (13 years) Georgia Tsebelis and Ian Melrose (14 years) Taylah Willaton and Trent Morrow (15 years) Nicole Moon and Philip Blunt (16 years) Shae Haney and Jordan Radosavljevic (17 years and over) Stephanie Morgan and Ben Geard. The Most Valuable Club Member award was presented to Veronica Roberts for her invaluable service as the club's masseur throughout the swimming season. Club President Jane Mitchell also thanked all the members of the committee for their contribution throughout the year.

Jeremy Meyer, former Club Champion who is now based at the AIS in Canberra was in attendance to celebrate along with his former team mates. Jeremy was named in the club’s prestigious Top Ten based on accumulated points for the season. The Top Ten Traralgon swimmers were: Georgia Tsebelis, Erin Roberts, Jeremy Meyer, Maggie O’Keefe, Jasmine Doultree, Alex Tsebelis, Ben Geard, Trent Morrow, Brayden Haney and Gemma Radosavljevic.

Traralgon swimmers are now back in full training preparing for the Victorian Country Short Course Championships which will be held in August.
