Traralgon Swimming Club holds Presentation

The Traralgon Swimming Club rounded out a spectacularly successful season with a Gala Presentation night at the Premier Function Room in Traralgon.  Club members and special guests enjoyed a visual re-cap of the season including footage of the National Championship medal swims in Brisbane.

The Club was once again the Premier Swimming Club locally and at Victorian Country level and the top country Victorian Swimming Club at State and National level.  Swimmers won 6 medals at National level: 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze which was the team’s best ever result and certainly the best result for a local club in the history of Gippsland Swimming.

Club President, Jane Mitchell spoke of the many accomplishments of the season as 114 trophies were presented to swimmers for participation and achievement throughout the season.  All swimmers were also presented with a team photo featuring the 96 swimmers who participated in the Gippsland Championships.

18 year old Jeremy Saunders was named the club champion for the third time in four years.  Saunders amassed a great many championship points as age group champion for the 6th year in a row at the State Championships in January, over all champion at the Country Championships and winner of one gold and one bronze medal at National Age Championships.  He was awarded the Kathleen Froud Memorial trophy as Club Champion.

Saunders headed up the list of the Club’s Top Ten Swimmers which included Jeremy Meyer, Ben Geard, Andrew Cameron, Sarah Berryman, Stephanie Morgan, Kirsten Lieshout, Brayden Waltham, Elliot Shaw and Matthew Dinsmore.
